The project aims to value and enhance the traditional knowledge of the women's group Retireiras do Araguaia through cutting/sewing and embroidery, strengthening the organization through female entrepreneurship with a focus on improving embroidery techniques, dissemination and sales of their arts, valuing the resistance process and the financial autonomy of the women's group.

Gender Focus
Although the roles of women and men in the community are balanced, the project is mainly focus on the female public, as they were feeling the need to also contribute with the house income. The income provide by the embroidery activitie will benefit men and women.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
As is a project to improve and professionalize the techniques of the traditional embroidery knowledge of the Retireiras do Araguaia, the embroidery will be the main socio-economic livehoods activities.
