Sustainable Community-Based Water Management on Semau Island
Sustainable Community-Based Water Management on Semau Island
GOAL (VISION/GENERAL OBJECTIVE)
Increased community participation in protecting and managing water resources, in achieving this goal community participation is expected to include:
- protection of water catchment areas by targeting an increase in water discharge in the future which is predicted within the next 3-4 years at water sources which is carried out through direct injection or biopori to water sources (injection wells)
- initiation and support of community efforts in managing water resources which also takes into account priority quotas for use (drinking water, agricultural and livestock needs)

Objectives (PROJECT SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES)
Objective 1:
Protection of Water Catchment Areas and Water Sources (Deep Groundwater and Surface Water) Conserving water sources by injecting water sources or biopores, in the middle area must ensure no destruction and maintenance of waterways or distribution systems, and use of water that wise in meeting actual water needs, for example Domestic or Household Needs.
Indicator
:
There is community participation in carrying out conservation activities in catchment areas and sources of deep ground and surface water
Activity:
1. Strengthening the distribution infrastructure network
2. Protection of water sources and the creation of infiltration holes
Water source protection activity plans in the village will be carried out at:
- Uiasa Village
Hamlet 3 RT 07 number of wells 1
Hamlet 4 RT 08 number of wells 1
Hamlet 5 RT 09 Number of wells 3
- Batuinan Village
Hamlet 1 RT 4 Number of wells 3
Dusun 2 RT 6 Number of wells 4
Efforts to protect the springs in these two villages will be followed by the creation of water traps, infiltration holes or bio-pores around the wells on a large enough scale to accommodate rainwater and prevent rainwater from flowing into the sea.
Objective 2:
Strengthening community cooperation networks related to water resource management and utilization (quota for meeting water needs in Uiasa and Batuinan villages
Indicators:
1. Existence of sample locations and sharing costs related to the use of water using environmentally friendly technology
Activity:
Rehab Water distribution infrastructure network in Uiasa Village
- Uiasa Village
Hamlet 3 RT 07 number of wells 1
Hamlet 4 RT 08 number of wells 1
Hamlet 5 RT 09 Number of wells 3
- Batuinan Village
Hamlet 1 RT 4 Number of wells 3
Dusun 2 RT 6 Number of wells 4
