Improving Agroecological Practices and Integrating Gender Equality, Women and Youth in Climate Smart Agriculture
Improving Agroecological Practices and Integrating Gender Equality, Women and Youth in Climate Smart Agriculture
This project seeks to address the climate-induced challenges affecting the Belizean Sugar Cane Farmers. The Northern Districts are characterized as SugarCane producing Districts with low women participation and low economic opportunities. The Sugar Industry women and youths are the most vulnerable groups in the two northern Districts. The project will build the community?s resilience to withstand environmental shocks and stresses through promoting an integrated approach and long-term commitment to improving the community?s adaptive and transformative capacity against climate change. The project will achieve absorptive capacity for community through planned coping agro ecological strategies whilst strengthening adaptive and transformative capacities through livelihood diversification.

Project Characteristics and Results
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
1. Identify community champions that can help promote the consultations and encourage participation. We will work closely with them and seek their support for outreach, project implementation and evaluation efforts. 2. Analyze past consultations to understand what did and didn?t work well previously and seek to anticipate any red flags. 3. Provide stakeholders with the background information they require to participate in a meaningful way. Anticipate what questions people will have about the consultation process, the project itself, and how their feedback will be used. 4. Understand the participants' barriers to access, like what are the geographic limitations, access to technology, or if they have any time constraint. 5. Communicate with our stakeholders about who else is being consulted, and how their input will affect PSCPA.
Inovative Financial Mechanisms
By addressing the knowledge management difficulties, the proposed project will support knowledge generation, submission and influence collective knowledge for solutions to other establishments. This will create an ease to access platform for mutual learning across organizations and associations, strengthen their capacity building, improve their project design and implementation processes, as well as improve their operational quality. PSCPA will share knowledge via their website forum, talk shows, booklets and brochures for the community.
