Promoting climate smart agricultural practices to reduce soil pollution inside green houses
The project targets 100 dunums for small farmers, male and female, and young men and women who own greenhouses in Thinaba in Tulkarm and Deir Abu Deif in Jenin and who are suffering from soil problems through taking 100 soil samples from 100 dunums to determine the salinity and acidity of the soil (PH), the quantities of fertilizer and irrigation quantities, in addition to provide the beneficiaries with organic fertilizers (2000 compost bags) in the appropriate quantities to compensate for the use of chemical fertilizers, conducting four training courses in the field of fertilization, irrigation and proper soil management to prevent the accumulation of salts and pollutants in the soil and to maintain the productivity of this soil and providing the farmers with 8 field devices (salinity and PH) for soil analysis and estimation of the concentration of basic elements to monitor soil salinity and acidity. And producing joint video with other GEF/SGP grantees to disseminate the project achievements.
