Reduction of waste from furniture, wood waste and textiles through its reuse and increase of social inclusion in the municipality of Kavadarci
The project is in accordance with the Strategic Initiatives ? Local to global coalitions for chemicals and waste management and Enhancing social inclusion.
In the last couple of years is even more realistic the problem of the increase of illegal landfills and the quantity of furniture and textile available on them. Even on the streets in the urban and rural ares. Governments all around the world are working together in finding more green solution for dealing with the waste and promotion of green jobs and circular economy.
On the other hand, the number of families in need of social help and additional skills to find employment has increased especially as result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our work as member of Food Bank Macedonia has shown us that the marginalized people and families really need help besides in food also in furniture, textile and new skills suitable for the new reguirements of the job market. There is a realisting need to combine different knowledge and innovative approaches in order to deliver skills to the citizens that will help them find employment but also contribute for environmental protection.
The project has as a goal promotion and practical use of the upcycling of furniture and textile in the everyday life resulting in raising peoples awareness not to throw and furn furniture and clothes on the illegal landfills and local streets that directly has impact on the level of air and soil pollution, decrease CO2, increase awareness on the positive impact of the circular economy on the environment and social benefit of the local community.
