1) The project formed a five-member project management team in Sabiye. The PMT was made up of representative of the Chiefs, farmers, Youth Groups, Women, and merchant producers.
2) Two training workshops were organized to orient the PMT on their functions.
3) The PMT negotiated with the chiefs for the release of 3-acre land for the establishment of the model farms.
4) The PMT advertise and registered 30 interested community farmers as pioneers and investors. Each registered signed to participate in the project under agreed conditions of service.
5) The project liaised with the District Ministry of Food and Agriculture to initiate training for the selected farmers on greenhouse farming in the context of climate-smart agricultural principles.
6) The project provided support for the acquisition of all the materials for the construction of two large production systems. The farmers were divided into groups and allocated to the production systems under the leadership of district Agriculture officers.
1. Construction of bamboo greenhouse structures
The project began with the formation of a five-member project management team in community Sabiye. The Team was made up of representative of the Chiefs, farmers, Youth Groups, Women, and merchant producers. Two training workshops were organized to orient the Teams on their functions. The project management team concluded negotiations with the chiefs for the release of land for the establishment of the model farms. A benefit sharing agreements was reached and necessary indentures signed to ensure a viable project.
The project management team educated and advertised for interested community members to register. Thirty farmers (10 women) were registered. Each registered member signed to participate in the project under agreed conditions of service. Once the land has been acquired and groups formed and oriented, the project will be launched. The project liaised with the District Ministry of Food and Agriculture to initiate training for the selected farmers on greenhouse farming. They also learned about the climate-smart agricultural principles. The project provided support for the acquisition of all the materials for the construction of two large production systems. The farmers were divided into groups and allocated to the production systems under the leadership of an experienced and skilled trainee by the MOFA Staff.

The project management team selected 30 farmers from the community who demonstrate keen interest in championing the technology were given theoretical training in construction techniques and tools. Moreover, the farmers were supported with in-depth technical knowledge on production principles and with support from the District Agriculture Office. These trainees got tutorials in maintaining the production systems.
