The Establishment of Central Breeding Facilities aimed at increasing bee colonies on both islands to increase bee populations leading to biodiversity conservation and improved food and livelihood security for farmers and beekeepers.
The project aims to facilitate the establishment of Central Breeding Facilities aimed at increasing bee colonies on both islands to increase bee populations leading to biodiversity conservation and improved food and livelihood security for farmers and beekeepers.
For St. Kitts and Nevis, the project seeks develop a 300-colony beehive nursery. These would then be distributed to members of the project for the development of individual apiaries. The project will provide an online training course for at least 20 participants. There are two proposed sites for the establishment of the breeding stations: -Eco Park on St. Kitts and a location to be identified on Nevis.
The project will seek to assist each project beneficiary to develop an apiary with a minimum 50 active full-sized colonies
