KUC Natareta is a rural living environment located at Tebwanga village situated at Maiana Island, a 16.72 km2 lies at the Central part of Kiribati. The population on Tebwanga village is 256 which is made up of 130 males and 126 females. The total number of households on Tabwanga village is 53 of which KUC Natareta comprises more than 20 households and a total number of members is 155.

The GEF SGP project aims to address the problem of KUC Natareta community related to limited access to clean water. The project will specifically focus on the provision of clean water supply to community members through the water extraction system that is powered by solar energy and that is specifically designed to reduce stress on the water lens. The project will also help to mobilize community members to participate effectively in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the water project. The project will also integrate the capacity building aspects which will help to enhance the capacities of community members in the project implementation and monitoring as well as the project fund management. The community members will demonstrate their strong commitment to support the project on the ground to ensure its long-term success and sustainability.
