Both men and women are involved in the project activities and equally sharing benefits. Water management is solely women responsibilities. Women representative in project implementing committee is an example of women participation.

Policy Impact
Project methodology when local communities work by their own towards serving their water shortage problem. The SGP intervention is to help in providing those needs required that is not available and can't be made by beneficiaries e.g. buying building materials like cement.
Inovative Financial Mechanisms
Site visits and peer to peer communication is the common practices in Socotra. Young people are getting intensive participation in project activities hence learning and disseminating knowledge to neighboring areas.
Capacity - Building Component
The capacity activities will be towards enhancing community awareness of the importance of environment in their region on one hand and their capacity in project management and sustainability. The project contains two community workshop to address these two objectives.

The project is a replication to many projects funded in other areas in Socotra. The replication will allow to benefit from previously implemented projects.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Two community workshop to be held and immediately involved 50 men and 50 women. Further the day to day work and discussion will help in communicating relevant issues to rain-water harvest and land degradation.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Water is inevitable commodity for sustainable livelihood in rural areas of Socotra. Securing water via rain-water harvest is uniting community efforts to build, manage and use of rainwater harvested.
Notable Community Participation
Young people notably males are fully involved in labor works required by project. These youth are progressively learning the techniques use in rain water harvest traditional tanks know as "Karief".
Policy Influence
project is in line with current gov. policy towards improving rural communities health, Livelihood and welfare. The project support sheepherders to access water resources in their rang lands. This will reduce land degradation and grazing pressure on areas close to water resources. Also conserve Biodiversity
Project Results
The projects results are as follow
1. building of 122 rain-water harvest tanks with total holding capacity of 1,647 cubic meters.
2. raise environmental awareness among community with direct to 40 men and 40 women.
