Revival of native range and forest plants to improve the biodiversity and reproduction of fruitful species in Alvar Garmsiri, Takab Village
Overall objective / activities to be implemented under the grant:
The forests and pastures of Khuzestan Province in the skirts of the South Zagros have always been subject of human incurred damage and unsustainable harvesting. In recent years, environmental activists in the country have been concerned about improving the situation and protecting Zagros Oak Forests and the need to revive and reduce their exploitation, especially livestock grazing, beekeeping and agriculture has been brought to attention.
The project aims to determine the reasons for the increase in degradation of pastures and forests of Andimeshk, after the COVID-19 pandemic, along with the importance of preserving genetic plant resources, with focusing on improved livelihoods and increased income in local communities, together with an increased level of welfare and health with emphasis on environmental protection. Production and propagation of native plants and fruit trees in Takab village, Alvar-e Garmsiri, Andimeshk, along with encouraged participation of the local community in planting and maintaining these plants is the main aim of the project.
