Empowerment of local communities to start local businesses in Cham Takleh Villages of Lorestan to cope with COVID-19 consequences
Overall objective / activities to be implemented under the grant:
Kashkan River is the most flooded river in Lorestan Province and is the main source of Karkheh River. The livelihood of the people of Chamtageleh e Olya and Chamtageleh e Sofla Villages depends on this river and its surrounding pastures to a large extent. During the COVID-19 pandemic, some villagers of the surrounding towns due to unemployment have migrated back to the village, and to earn a living and meet their needs have unknowingly destroyed the environment.
One of the main objectives of the project is to develop capacities and job creation among local communities to deal with the consequences of the COVID-19 outbreak, through activities such as identifying the human and natural potentials of the region, training and help to increase the diversity of local businesses and income generation, help to establish a local fund and encouraging local people for environment protection.
The specific objective includes providing professional skills training to the villagers, equipping them with tools and equipment needed to generate income, training several villagers and students to protect the environment, forming a volunteer environment protection group, and finally seeding and planting, and community conservation of 12 hectares of common lands of the two villages of Cham Takleh e Olya and Cham Takleh e Sofla through local community participation.
