Overall objective / activities to be implemented under the grant:
The indigenous plants that have traditionally grown wild in Dareh-Shirin Dar-Baloot pasture area are affected by factors such as excessive grazing and harvesting by locals especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, where most of the people turned to medicinal herbs. As a result, plants such as thymes, allium stamineums, Flinders roses and Prunus scoparia are in at the risk of extinction. The project seeks to preserve the reserve, revive, and plant the above-mentioned plants in the customary pastures of Dareh-Shirin Dar-Baloot area, 58 km southeast of Kazerun in Fars Province, using the capacity and participation of the local community and relying on agriculture, based on the biome of the region. The project intends to recover the damage incurred on traditional pastures and the region?s sites of medicinal and edible plants at the risk of extinction because of droughts and excessive harvesting. the implementation of the project include revival of the customary pastures, help prevent the extinction of valuable plant species, strengthening the vegetation to combating desertification, controlling soil erosion, and improving the livelihood of local communities through the sale of medicinal and edible plants such as thymes, Flinders roses, chamomiles, and allium stamineums.
