The project has been designed to improve the livelihoods of the Veal CF members to be an effective and sustainable use and manage Community Forestry by encouraging the full participation of local communities in implementing the Community Forestry management plan at Phnom Samkos Wildlife Sanctuary, Pursat province. The project has three objectives: 1) 204 CF members in Veal village have a better understanding of sustainable forest & natural resource management and participated in implementing some activities stated in Community Forestry Management Plan and strengthening Forestry law enforcement to protect Forest in Veal Community Forestry; 2). The financial management mechanisms of the Veal Community Forestry Committee will be established to build stronger CF's organizational capacity; 3) The lessons learned & good practices gain form project implementation will be compiled for further implementation and sharing. In order to achieve those project objectives, keys activities will be implemented such as training & awareness raising to Community Forestry Management Committees (CFMC) and CF members on managing and implementing Community Forest Management Plan (CFMP), general environment & natural resources management and leadership, patrolling, implementing 14 activities listed in CFMP, and provide more options for livelihood improvement activities such as food processing, improved agricultural technic, and non-farming job creation by providing involving funds for running their income generation activities to the marginalized groups and/or poorest families in the Veal CF. Documentation of good practices and lesson learns activity is also part of this project.
