Working together to strengthen the sustainability of Community Forestry management in order to improve environment and natural resources while increase food security.
This project aims to build the capacity of the three Community Forestry Committees in the village Roveang village, Prek I village, and Angkor village, 27 people, 4 women, and 581 members to work together to improve environmental protection and natural resources conservation, strengthen cooperation with local authorities, including Forestry Administration officials, in implementing projects with accountabilities and transparency on the sustainable management of 2,513 hectares of Community Forest Areas. In addition, the project will increase food security of 581 people in the 3 target villages. To achieve this, the project will implement the following activities: i) Strengthen the capacity of Community Forestry and update on the 8th step in develop a Community Forestry Management Plan and implement some of the activities stated in the CF management plan, such as the construction of fire roads, regular CF patrolling, place CF demarcation poles, build a patrolling huts, placing billboards to promoting forest protection and conservation; ii) Provide training on agricultural techniques and funding to model farmers and Community Forestry members, as well as provide funding to patrolling teams; iii) planting trees and replant cardamom to increase forest cover; iv) Water supply for community use and conducting quarterly, monthly meetings and workshops to review and reflect on project implementation. Compilation of case studies and short videos story on the results of the project, good experiences, and lesson learns gained from the implementation of the project is also part of this project.
