This project aims to enhance the effectiveness of protection and conservation of more than 61?? hectares of natural forest and biodiversity in the three Community Protected Areas (CPAs) located in the Central Cardamom Mountains National Park and in the Phnom Samkos Wildlife Sanctuary such as Pchhek Chhrum Chheu Teal Chrum CPA, Traporng Pong CPA, and Mong Ry CPA. To achieve the above objectives, the project will implement the below interventions: i) Capacity building for CPA management committees, members, and stakeholders through restructuring CPA committee based on their mandate, training, and outreach programme; ii) For Pchhek Chhrum Chheu Teal Chrum CPA, the project will build a dam of 75m x10m x 30m and 10m high for providing safe water to CPA members as well as wildlife. A water pipe system of 350 m long will also be connected to bring water to the home of CPA members; iii) provide other options for increasing food security and incomes for families who live inside protected areas through providing training to model farmers on growing vegetable and raising chickens technic and building some basic infrastructure for eco-tourism; iv) Localize the transfer from the Mong Ry Community Forestry and Trapong Pong Forest Community to the Mong and Trapong Pong CPAs to get official recognition from the Ministry of Environment; v) Install 4 project billboards and 100 additional CPA demarcation poles in the 3 target CPAs, and vi) The experiences resulting from the implementation of the project will be documented as a Video Story and case study to share with stakeholders both inside and outside the community through project completion workshop.
