The Club and NPEP collaboration will focus on developing and piloting an innovative traceability programme at the collection level to inform the treatment and disposal level of solid waste management. The programme will incorporate advanced technology to help automate the waste management processes and data collection at NPEP. As data is collated, more advanced treatment and disposal methods of the collected waste will become feasible and waste management policies can be developed based on up-to-date information. During the program female students enrolled in New Providence schools will be exposed to interactive experiences that foster a solution-oriented approach to problems and build project management skills. Students will be trained by local STEM experts at the Edmund Moxey Community Center and travel to the NPEP to conduct field work. While the programme will be designed in New Providence, the aim is to create a scalable programme to facilitate better waste management throughout the islands of The Bahamas. The programme will facilitate the development of a municipal solid waste master plan for New Providence, which can be extended to The Bahamas, and help policymakers explore opportunities for reducing short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) emissions from the municipal solid waste sector.
