Building community capacity in Forest Restoration in Alpalak community Forest plantation. NOTE: *Originally VUT/SGP/OP6/LD/Core/20/02
The project is to provide the capacity to the indigenous Community, in NW Malekula to benefits of agroforestry and to demonstrate how to plant and maintain the forest plantations to maximise the benefits to the wider community and secure food.

The project will bring benefit to 20 households with more than 30 adults both men and women capable of working on Project related activities. The Project has been designed at a scale which will make a positive contribution to the community without affecting its ability to maintain their current commercial, social and cultural activities.

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Much of the tree plant species used for restocking and forest restoration will be add value to the community fuel, timber and food trees.
Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
The project located within Indegenous community working on Indegenous land. So the project had helped brought knowledge and skills on environmental restoration through forest restoration works into the indigenous communities for their participation in global environmental protection at the local community.
