The population of the remote mountainous areas of Tajikistan faces the most with the negative effects of climate change and take the brunt of severe floods, droughts and other unpredictable environmental phenomena. Ayni and Shakhristan are one of the most vulnerable districts in the area. The negative impact of climate change is also influence to agricultural sector and weaken food security of the districts, harm ecological systems and biological diversity and increase the level of carbon dioxide emissions as well. In spite of it the districts are not ready effectively manage with the coming problems, adequately plan and budget their own local development policies with integrated climate change adaptation issues. Lack the capacity of local development actors, low awareness and participation of citizens in the process of decision making on CCA issues is observed.
For this end the project is aimed to facilitate the process of participatory local development planning with inclusion of CCA issues. Initial stage of the project will be rolled up with facilitating the wide participatory process the improvement of Ayni and Shakhristan Districts Development Programs with inclusion of CCA issues, revision of existed Technical Working Groups on composition and implementation of DDP with the inclusion of additional members responsible for integration of CCA.
The project also will distribute in the development of training modules, presentations and other materials on the development of a DDP with inclusion of CCA issues. In general, 2 training modules and materials on the development of a DDP will be prepared
