Climate change, deforestation and inappropriate farming practices have contributed to the increasing poverty and hunger there by make women and youth more vulnerable to the impact. In order to maximize yield, it is necessary for women and youth farmers to be supported with agricultural inputs. These labor saving equipment and inputs reduce the amount of hard labor needs in agriculture, thereby enhance / improve productivity and efficiency of field operations. Thus, women and youth are economically empowered when they have access to small productive equipment, improved vegetable seeds, and receive training on governance, farm diversity, compost making and processing among others. This support for women and youth will lead to large economic gains and the governance training will increase women and youth decision-making power and choices.

The project aims to promote sustainable food and nutritional security using agroecologically approaches through adaptive and resilience building, including improved soil fertility using natural environment and Improved market access for agroecological products. The expected results include enhanced livelihood diversity and value chain development and as well as increased income and create employment opportunity.

Specific Objectives
? To create social and economic opportunities for women and youth in the targeted communities by strengthening their participation through awareness, trainings, governance knowledge and thereby enhancing their entrepreneurship potentials to improve their livelihoods.
? Hence, it is to create greater opportunities for women and youth to secure decent employment, income and skills and ensure sustainable production practices while protecting the natural environment.
? To reduce the poverty gaps and promote an inclusive economic growth and empower the most vulnerable households engage in sustainable production practices. This will contribute to increasing women standing and respect within the community and households by raising their voices and air their views and concerns.

Project Activities
The following are the main planned activities, and where there should be sub activities, as specified in the approved work plan and budget.

1. Inception sensitization and awareness raising among the targeted beneficiaries;
2. Official Launching (one meeting) and discussions with stakeholders;
3. Purchase of inputs and garden implements;
4. Governance and Management training - negotiation skills and improved participation in decision-making platform;
5. Training on farm diversity - reduce climate vulnerability and increased productivity;
6. Training on compost making and use of organic herbicides ? to increase the use of organic manure and locally produced pesticide to maximize farm income among vegetable farmers;
7. Training on food processing and marketing - reduce post harvest losses and increased product hygiene and income;
8. Purchase of processing materials / equipment;
9. Monitoring and Evaluation;
10. Documentary and promotional materials Increased information and education / knowledge sharing.
