This project will test in small or medium-sized greenhouse an application on the ANDROID platform that will be able to provide real time reading for a series of critical greenhouse environmental parameters from low-cost sensors. This information is necessary for both the normal functioning of the greenhouse as well as in crisis situations when the farmer's intervention is required to be fast, such as night frosts. The application is modular, giving the possibility of adding sensors and storing the historic data with the aim of optimizing the functioning of the greenhouse. This project will test a prototype of this program that has been built under laboratory conditions and will gather input from farmers if they find this product useful. At the same time, it will gather necessary information regarding the possibility of building a business model focused on this product in the future.
Albania is mainly a rural country characterized by mountainous, hilly and field areas, the main focus is on agriculture and agriculture. Currently, Albania's economy is focused on the services, tourism and agriculture sector. Demand for Albanian agricultural products from European Community countries is high. Due to relatively mild climate, the cultivation of winter vegetables in the greenhouse is attractive for trading in the markets of Continental Europe where these products are sold at high profit as a result of a combination of lower cost of production with early trading.
