Increasing use of plastic has brought with it negative effects on human health, ecosystems and climate change. Starting from production, plastics cause various effects by relasing to nature throughout the entire life cycle (production, transportation and use, disposal and biodegradation). In the project, it is aimed to support the reduction of these effects of plastics on local ecosystems and climate, and to prepare cities for plastic-oriented national/international regulations based on the circular economy principle by analyzing the plastic value chain on a city scale. In this context, it is planned to offer appropriate solutions for the municipality and relevant stakeholders for reducing plastic pollution at the source and for sustainable waste management. In addition to capacity building and awareness- raising activities, it is also planned to develop a road map eventually. In the meantime, the European Union, 'Green Consensus' and 'Circular Economy Action Plan', has developed a set of measures and targets with putting the sustainable product policy into practice as prior, such as reducing the production of plastic waste especially in the field of packaging, construction plastics and automotive and requiring the use of recycled materials. The project is not limited to the circular business model for plastic waste management; at the same time, it will also discuss the roles of our country's local governments regarding the targets and priorities of the Green Consensus and Circular Economy Action Plan on the adaptation of the private sector to green transformation, the increasing competitiveness of the cities, strengthened growth and employment capacity and the fight against urban poverty.
