Based on a GREEN PLAN prepared during the Planning Grant phase, the grantee will implement a series of measures which will transform 16 acres of land and structures into a climate smart development with a significantly reduced carbon footprint through energy conservation strategies; reforestation and expansion of an apiary; the increase in rainwater harvesting; and the transformation of an existing farm into a Climate Smart Farm using GAP and organic methods, including traditional composting and vermiculture. The three main objectives shall be to: (i) To design and establish climate smart sustainable agricultural activities which can serve as demonstration sites for skills and knowledge development; (ii) To reduce energy usage by at least 1731 KWh and achieve a monthly saving of approximately EC$ 612.34; and (iii) Increase water storage by at least 100% (Phase 1)
