Empowering Local communities, especially Youth and Women for Nature Resources conservation in Ras El Matn region through the Hima Approach
The main aim of the project is to promote conservation of Ras El Matn region nature resources (forests, birds, animals, water?) through empowering local communities as leaders for change, especially youth and women, and strengthening their relationship with their environment and creating stewardship with their region.
Ras Al Matn Youth Organization will be collaborating with SPNL in establishing a Hima in Ras El Matn region, along with providing Homat al Hima training to the community, and ensuring that the project is the first initiative will spread towards neighboring villages for more effective and sustainable outcomes.
The project would promote conservation of important ecological area and raise the capacity of local community and it concentrates on awareness and empowerment of local people, especially underprivileged groups, youth and women. It also stresses their leadership role in the management of their nature resources, aiming to improve the status of forests and wildlife in Ras Al Matn region and enhancing the livelihoods of the local communities
