Building Resilient and Climate Change Ready Communities by Improving Livelihoods and Enhancing Economic Opportunities in the Maya Golden Landscape
The envisaged project seeks to create an enabling environment for TFCG to maximize their earnings through strengthening their entrepreneurship capacity to process wet cacao beans and increasing their preparedness for value adding to the income generating products of their cacao agroforestry systems. In the case of GCFC the proposal is to strengthen the governance of their indigenous community conserved area ?ICCA? by creating opportunities for indigenous women and youth participation; this will be accomplished through updating of the bylaws accordingly. This project will also facilitate proper demarcation of the cacao agroforestry plots within the ICCA.
The objectives of the project will be accomplished through a mix of training sessions, participatory consultations, and peer-to-peer exchange visits, inter alia. The objectives are aligned with the following SGP OP7 Strategic Initiatives: Sustainable agriculture, fisheries and food security; Community-based conservation of threatened ecosystems and species; Enhancing social inclusion; Knowledge management and Results Management, Monitoring & Evaluation
