Reusable and Distribution of Reusable Baby Nappy
Reusable and Distribution of Reusable Baby Nappy
The project to reduce waste through alternate use of plastic baby diapers. The Mamma?s Laef Vanuatu have initiated a trial of their environmentally friendly and reusable nappy products within three communities on Efate with initial funding from Canada Fund for Local India. As well as a commencing a Grant funded project for distribution in October-November to families having babies at Vila Central Hospital.
A local community Pango-based social enterprise is meeting the challenge to provide a local solution to the global plastic problem by locally manufacturing reusable nappies which are designed with specially imported high-quality, absorbent and waterproof materials.
With approximately 7000 babies born each year in Vanuatu, if families are given the option to start using reusable nappies from Day 1 of their baby?s life, a positive impact can be made for the environment. It is estimated that there are 7,000,000 disposable diapers used in Vanuatu every year. We want to stop the tide of that pollution.
