Building resilience and improving food security in the Haynesville community through backyard gardening and entrepreneurial development
To build resilience and improve food security in the Haynesville community through capacity building in backyard gardening and entrepreneurial development.

1) To train 25 youth in backyard gardening techniques through a 12-week course with a blended approach of face-to-face and online instruction.
2) To conduct a 3 month food security assessment study of the Haynesville Community to determine some of the challenges with respect to the availability and ability to procure adequate and nutritious food for their households.
3) To establish a demonstration backyard garden within the community of Haynesville over the course of 6 months for the purposes of practical instruction on backyard gardening and developing green spaces in urban landscapes.
4) To provide 25 youth with basic entrepreneurial skills through a 12 week capacity building programme.
5) To develop a 5-minute documentary video on how to successfully establish and monetize a backyard garden over the period of 6 weeks.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
A website will be developed to promote the project as well as a documentary on how to successfully establish and monetize a backyard garden will be used and circulated across various media channels.
Capacity - Building Component
Haynesville Youth Club is an award winning arts and cultural group which has inspired and won the hearts of many persons both locally, regionally and internationally. This activity will utilise the talents and skills in acting, dance and singing to build awareness about environmental protection, agribusiness development and resilience. The 5 minute documentary will see the HYC scripting and producing a video which encourages residents throughout the community to become engaged in backyard gardening and similar activities for their personal empowerment and for the continued upliftment of the community.
