The waste issue in Bhutan is a major problem. It became a priority of the nation to address the issue of waste. Given the nature of problems, not many people are interested to venture into the business in waste management. The public awareness and education in waste management and participation of women in local such program is low. There is an opportunity for partnership and collaboration in waste management, produce waste products from recyclable waste and help women engage in waste management and recycling ventures and supplement their income and enhance their livelihood. The project contributes to number of SGP Country Programme?s strategy priorities that includes, community-based adaptions, cso-government-private sector policy and planning dialogue, enhancing social inclusion and knowledge management.
