Monbiftek Multi-purpose Educational Forest Woodlot
The Vanuatu Forest ecosystem is affected by regular cyclones and deforestation for Agriculture. The Government given priority to agroforest to arrest the decline of natural forest degradation so to encourage farmer to plant trees. The management of the Forest restoration is always considered challenge to local indigenous farmers. The Project initiative to support the Monbiftek multipurpose woodlot, once established will assist the tree farmers as well as Agricultural farmers with the knowledge of growing and managing a tree farm. Agricultural farmers will learn to integrate tree crops within agricultural crops. Such is anticipated to expand Tree growing activities and simultaneously providing a habitat for biodiversity in general. Meanwhile, the Monbiftek woodlot cover 10 hectares will provide the younger generation with first hand knowledge on native species of flora and fauna and their status-weather or not they are endemic, endangered or rare.
