Empowering local community for Agro Forestry in Buffer area of VATHE community conservation areas
Deforestation within critical ecosystems has negative impact to reducing critical habitats of endemic bird species in Santo. The local community will undertake agroforest activities within subsistence agricultural areas through the establishment of forest nursery to raise food trees seedling for local communities replanting. Trees species selected will based on local community experiences and seeds available and for the need of the local people for their livelihood. Through the reforestation works the community will also address sanitation through the sustainable management of livestock for health benefit when introduced rotational farming in the local community as agro climate smart in cattle farming and environmental benefit.
