Climate Change Mitigation through Organic Farming Initiatives and Ready for Declaration of Inorganic Farming Free Dang Valley
This project is to declare Dang valley towards organic valley by declaring chemical fertilizer free valley through series of campaigns and consultations. The target groups are Kamlari (wives of freed Kamaiya), and Tharu people of Ganari Women Cooperative. The general objective of the project is to mitigate climate change through organic farming initiatives in Dang valley. The specific objectives of the project are; to run organic farming campaigns for climate change mitigation, enhance livelihood of farmers through organic farming initiatives, and build the capacities of farmers groups and CBOs.

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
Build the capacities of farmers groups and CBOs;
- Organize agriculture training to women involved in cooperative (2 event, 140 people).
- Run training to local journalist for organic farming (1 event, 15 journalist)
- Organize an observational/study tour to organic farms (1 event, 40 lead farmers).
- Run training to prepare organic manure and biocides (4 event, 240 people).
- Erect information boards in the strategic locations (20 locations).
- Organize and celebrate environment related international days such as World Wetland Day, Agriculture Day, World Biodiversity Day, World Environment Day and International Vulture Awareness Day (5 events, at least 500 people)
- Encourage to make transparent budget through public audit (I event).
- Run Radio programme for climate change mitigation through local FM radios (10 events).
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Enhance livelihood of farmers through organic farming initiatives
- Purchase, storage and distribute vegetable seeds to the target farmers (412 farmers).
- Support to prepare small trenches for organic manure making (412 farmers).
- Support to manage markets for farm products through minimal services (2 events, 140 people).
- Support to construct tunnel greenhouse for nursery preparation (4 tunnel house, nurseries).
- Provide hand operated tractors to farmers groups (2 tractors).
- Provide technical inputs and other required supports to poultry farming (80 families).
- Manage land for vegetable farming on lease (15 ha)
