Sustainable Land Conservation Project(SLCP)
project being Sustainable Land Conservation. David Town, Kokoyah, Bong County is an area that has been affected by mining activities, leading to a decline in traditional livelihoods and an increase in poverty levels. The project aims to address these issues by providing an alternative livelihood opportunity through sustainable agriculture. The project's primary objective is to empower individuals from the community by providing them with the necessary training and resources to establish and maintain sustainable agricultural practices on a minimum of five acres of land.
WHEREAS the National Steering Committee (the ?National Steering Committee?), to which GEF SGP has delegated the authority to select and approve projects and allocate funding, has, at a meeting held on October 25, 2022 approved the project, details of which are set out at Annex A, and the budget as set out in Annex B, and agreed to the allocation of funds to LOCAL Organization.

Project Characteristics and Results
Notable Community Participation
An in-depth consultation has already taken place, with discussions beginning in 2022 with community and stakeholders representative. This proposal has evolved as a direct result of that consultation process and a pre-project development visit which was undertaken from October by the NC.
Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
Local Environmental Volunteer Groups will be trained in effective environmental education techniques.
