Conservation of Biodiversity and Sustainable Development through Productive Innovation
Grand Cape Mount County has strengthened its environmental governance structure aiming to protect national resources and biodiversity of global importance. The county is recognized for promoting the importance of biodiversity in its culture and traditions and is committed to advancing towards the conservation of biodiversity Pro-Poor agenda and maintaining a leading role in contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Biodiversity Targets.
Main sectorial challenges are reflected in a series of mutually supportive public policy instruments. In particular, actions are directed to enforce existing laws on environmental issues, protect biodiversity and natural heritage, incorporate environmental education into school programs, encourage actions to combat Climate Change, and consolidate an international policy around the conservation of the environment and biodiversity. Notable Community Participation
An in-depth consultation has already taken place, with discussions beginning in 2022 with community and stakeholders representative. This proposal has evolved as a direct result of that consultation process and a pre-project development visit which was undertaken from October by the NC.
