Harmtai village in Xamnue county, Huaphan province is 17 km away from the commune and is in the highlands with a total area of 712,557 hectares, 74 households with 92 families and a population of 481 people. The total forest area is 531.28 hectares, of which 29.28 hectares are protected forests, 320.40 hectares are protected forests, and 189.60 hectares are commercial forests. The livelihood of most people in the village depends on natural resources, NTFP collection and shifting cultivation, livestock rearing and crop farming as substitutes. Harmtai village has designated an area for the conservation of forest resources, headwaters, and the use of forest resources for the community. The village and county level authorities have prepared a plan for restoring degraded forest land so that natural resources can be restored in abundance. The project aims to help the community sustainably conserve forest resources in the development village, especially the forest at the headwaters of the creek; Promote the academic techniques to restore the forest on the degraded area according to the ecology principle, in order to increase the diversity in the forest and expand the forest resources for a rich biodiversity and conserve the area at the headwaters of the stream through the community involved in the management of the implementation plan, while benefiting from the results of the project and providing the communities with the knowledge for sustainable management and conservation of forest resources.
