Participation of the Community in the Sustainable Management of Forest Resources.
Laat Bok village is in Bachiengcharoensouk district, Champasak province and consists of 338 households with 1,717 inhabitants and a production area of 684.48 hectares, with the national forest covering 5,553.67 hectares. Ban Laat Bok is adjacent to the provincial forest reserve and national forest production area, where most people live based on forest resources. Land use for cultivation is impaired in large areas, and the main income activities of the community are shifting cultivation, livestock rearing, and NTFPs for livelihood. Therefore, the district and village authorities have developed a strategy to reallocate forest land to sustainably protect and conserve forest resources and improve the livelihood of people in the community. The project aims to support the community and the Bachieng district Agriculture and Forestry Department in developing village as a model for conservation of forest resources in the village and to promote the community by using the wisdom of community to achieve the maximum benefits, such as community conservation and use rights, and creating benefits for biodiversity conservation, wildlife protection, and local livelihoods through the participation of community organization, including women, youth, village gb the allocation authorities, and the county agriculture and forest department in implementing the allocation and management of forest resource use with the village.
