Community Participation Pesticide Use Management and Sustainable Biofertilizer Production in Xinxay Village.
Community Participation Pesticide Use Management and Sustainable Biofertilizer Production in Xinxay Village.
Xinxay village is in Khua district, Phongsaly province and consists of 144 houses, 158 families and 536 inhabitants. The main occupation of the people is agriculture, especially rice cultivation and other crops, which have moved from traditional pest control to the excessive use of pesticides because it seems convenient and quick to eliminate. On the other hand, people still do not know how to use pesticides properly, which poses a risk to public health and the environment. While village communities are aware of the importance of the problem, they lack technical knowledge and management, which can lead to inadequate management. The project aims to reduce the use of pesticides that are harmful to health and the environment in the community by providing information, creating videos, and establishing a community learning center to share the information with other villages. It also aims to encourage people to produce their own biofertilizer for use in the community, thus generating income for the people and protecting the environment.
