Knowledge of SGP Communications for Capacity Building for Project Management.
The majority of development projects are implemented by project management units (PMUs). The main obstacle to improving project efficiency is the lack of capacity among PMU staff. PMUs lack institutional accountability for these core functions, and the capacity built in PMUs tends to be dismantled after the project is completed. Approaches and standards in development projects, particularly those that span large geographic areas and multiple provinces, are often fragmented, inefficient, and inconsistent. These shortcomings and challenges often affect project preparation and lead to delays in project processing and approval. The project aims to provide UNDP/GEF-SGP grantees with project management skills to meet requirements and eligible applicants with the proper application process and documentation to meet requirements. This will be done in strategic thematic areas in different geographic zones such as the North, Central, and South through academic-institutional approaches to applicant involvement and participation.
