Adopt a River ? Improving the management of the Soufriere River System as a means to significantly reduce the waste entering the river and the SMMA
This Planning Gant will allow the grantee to engage all the stakeholders in designing a project which covers the entire Soufriere River System within the Soufriere Watershed. It will engage the Government, the Private Sector, Civil Society and the general population in a long term plan to address solid waste and chemical waste entering the river system and ultimately affecting the SMMA, a part of which lies within the Pitons Management Area World Heritage Site. It is expected that by the end of the project a comprehensive strategy for addressing solid waste and chemicals in the watershed will be approved for implementation and incorporated into a Full Grant Project Proposal.
