Sustainable Land management through community agroforestry plantations
The overall objective of the project is to support smallholder women farming groups to invest in sustainable land management using agroforestry technology as a livelihood option. The project will empower the individual farmers to invest integrated climate smart cashew and livestock farming which is expected to increase the income of women groups whiles increasing the areas under sustainable land managements in the landscape.
The main project objective is to promote sustainable land management and livelihood of smallholder women farmers through agroforestry and climate smart agriculture.
Specific Project Objectives
a) To support small holder farmers to invest in climate smart integrated cashew plantation in two project communities intercropped with groundnut, and cowpeas.
b) To support the women?s groups to integrate apiaries and small ruminant rearing in the cashew plantations and community reserved forests.
c) To train and empower the smallholder farmers into Village Saving And Loan Associations (VSLAs) in order to increase access and control over resources and use collective power to overcome social and financial barriers.

Output 1: 15 ha of climate smart integrated cashew plantations established in two communities intercropped with groundnut and cowpea.
Output 2: Six (6) women?s groups assisted to establish apiaries in two communities.
Output 3: Six (6) VSLAs groups formed by the smallholder farmers in the two communities and made functional.
