The aim of the project is to galvanize rural organizational strength of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to enhance biodiversity conservation through climate smart agricultural practices while devoting particular attention to women empowerment, youth, and persons with disabilities participation in Saru community of the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba (STK) district in the Savanna region. The project will promote Climate Smart Agricultural (CSA) practices including organic farming, agroforestry, agricultural Insurance, alternative livelihood, Village Savings and Loans, tree woodlot planting and community nursery activities. The project intended to connect the organizational strength of self-help-groups to promote sustainable agriculture to contribute to inclusive food systems for improved livelihoods, food security, and nutrition and climate resilience through climate smart agricultural practices among small holder farmers in Saru community of the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba (STK) Bamboi district.

The main project objective is to contribute to inclusive food systems for improved livelihoods, food security, nutrition, and climate resilience among smallholder farmers in Saru community in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba (STK) District through an integrated agriculture practices and rural organizational convergence.
Specific Objectives
? To introduce smallholder farmers to conservation agricultural practices.
? To support smallholder farmers to invest in beekeeping, and tree nurseries in
? To restore the Saru portion of the Black Volta Basin with woodlots, agroforestry, enrichment of the sacred grooves and protection of water catchments areas and planting of legume crops to ensure availability of the crop for animals in the dry season.
Expected Outputs
Output 1: Six (6) Self Help Groups (SHGs) comprising of 40 Small holder farmers including women, Persons with Disabilities supported on Conservation Agricultural practices in Saru community in the first quarter of the project.
Output 2: Forty (40) beneficiaries in Saru supported engaging with sustainable alternatives livelihoods such as beekeeping and Community Nursery activities to enhance their incomes, nutrition, and food security.
Output 3: 40 hectares of degraded community lands within the Black Volta basin restored through established community-based woodlots, agroforestry, enrichment planting of shrine grooves.

Capacity - Building Component
1. P4CGH will facilitate the registration of Self-help groups into cooperative and certify organic agricultural food producers to empower them for continues functioning as voices from the grassroots level on climate change advocacy both at the community, district, and regional levels during and after the project life. The SHGs will serve as environmental protection committees in the at the community level to prevent environmental/forest related crimes

It will hold public meeting and radio discussions to promote public awareness.
