Resilient Ecosystem and Sustainable Economy in Jalthal Area
The project is based on wetland conservation, agroforestry, fisheries and control of invasive species and compost making and upscaling resilient ecosystem and sustainable economy in Jalthal Area. The primary objective of the project is to improve the biodiversity in degraded areas and support livelihood activities of the local community through Nature Based solution approach. More specifically, the project will support to restore wetland areas and develop the model of sustainable biodiversity financing and restore the area invaded by Mikania Micrantha.

Project Characteristics and Results
Inovative Financial Mechanisms
GGN will document activities implemented during the entire project period in a systematic manner; database will be maintained of each activity and beneficiaries. It will publish summary of the information, achievements, learning and success stories into articles and reports in various electronic media, which will be further disseminated through web sources and web-based social networks. GGN will also share stories from the field for UNDP periodic newsletter and other publications.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
The progress of the project will be regularly shared within the project district. Joint monitoring and public hearing will help to communicate the key stakeholders about the project?s achievements. Sharing events will also be organized with other concurrent projects to encourage scalability and replication whereas reduce duplication. Mass media such as local FMs and newspaper will be used for dissemination far and wide. Information will also be communicated through web based media (websites and social media). Project activities will be integrated with activities of the DFO and local government bodies. Finally, a wrap up workshop will be organized, which will communicate the final results of the project, open new windows of opportunity, support sustainability and replication of project learning and achievements.
