The accessibility to clean and sufficient water for local community is very significant issues for poor households and families that encounters on water scarcity to local people. Pakouay village is targeted area and focusing on assistance based on the social economic development plan of the district to build as a model village. The village locates in Champhone district, Savannakhet province. It is far from the district around 14 km to the south east, there are 2 groups namely: NonKhay and Pakouay groups, which includes 154 households with 154 families, 749 population with 364 female and 43 families are recognized as the poor families. The people drinking water from stream, spring water, groundwater and so on, which is make drinking water and water for cook and clean not sufficient and scarcity. Based on the preliminary survey, there are 18 groundwater and only 3 groundwater work, the rests are broken, and in average water used 10-15 liter/person/day. In every year, harvest season the rice yield product is very low between 1.1-2 ton/ha, the rice field is considered as drought area, low fertility, salty soil and there are many families still hungers due to the rice product is not sufficient for them. Therefore, in terms of food security is very limited. The project aims to provide and support on accessibility and sustainability on the use of groundwater, building the resilience and adaptation of the local community?s livelihood on food security due to the result of climate and the develop, exchange experiences with the best practice with communities and disseminate activities results to the public.
