Promote Climate Resilient Food System Through Improved Small Scale Infrastructure and Vocational Training at NamFa Village, Viengphoukha District, Luangnamtha Province.
NamFa village in Viengphoukha district, Luangnamtha province, is the home of the Yung tribe. Originally, they lived in Vietnam, but moved to Laos in 1910 and settle down in Nam Fa village. The Yung people have their own dialect, which is very unique and very different from other dialects. Currently, there are 241 households with 1,134 population, including 571 females. Nam Fa village is highly vulnerable to climate change as villagers have been engaging with swidden agriculture for generations, but lack of techniques for climate resilient cultivation. Forest area have been cleared for rice cultivation and other crops plantation. In addition, with increasing of population of the village, livelihoods of villagers have been threatening with limited farming areas, decreased productivity of rice and crops as resulted of climate change, especially droughts and diseases. Nam Fa has categorized as a poor village of the province that the majorities of villagers could not secured their food,
