Enhance Understanding and Strengthen the Livelihoods of People in the Community to Adapt and Cope with Climate Change.
Du is a small village under the administration of the Phonthong district, Champasack province, which includes 291 households and a total population of 1,592 people. Village is a rural type with access roads, no public health, and no market in the community. The socio-economic condition of Du village, the people still mainly based on natural resources and have traditional characteristics, most of the production is rice farming, animal husbandry and some of them produce handicrafts. However, in the implementation of green and sustainable development work with the aim of reducing the effects of climate change, especially dealing with natural disasters (floods, droughts or epidemics) and people's adaptation to integrated living, there are still many limitations and obstacles such as technical, knowledge, understanding, finance and implementation mechanisms. The project aims to strengthen the understanding of climate change and to be aware of the causes and problems as well as the effects of climate change for the people in the community; To develop a model of preparedness and adaptation of the people to cope with climate change in the agricultural field and production areas of people in the community; To empower the economic in community by creating financial strength for the people in the community by establishing a Village Development Fund.
