Demonstration Project of Agricultural Waste Management and Organic Fertilizer Application in Xinzhuangzi Village, Liujiadian Town, Pinggu District, Beijing
Baseline Information:
The Xinzhuangzi Village in Liujiadian Town faces challenges in the application of organic fertilizers in the fruit industry due to weak efforts, low awareness, and inadequate capabilities among villagers. The disposal of agricultural waste, including tree branches, leaves, and plant residues, poses a significant ecological challenge in the fruit orchards in the Pinggu region.
The annual agricultural waste production exceeds 1000 tons. Although Liujiadian Town and Xinzhuangzi Village's grassroots organizations have always attached importance to waste management, the lack of a collaborative approach with organic fertilizer production and the absence of professional organization involvement hinder effective waste management. Current waste disposal methods primarily involve incineration and field dumping, with only a small portion being collected for organic fertilizer production.
Main Problems:
1. Limited awareness among villagers for sustainable organic fertilizer use.
2. Lack of consistent organic fertilizer training and motivational mechanisms.
3. Absence of a waste-to-organic fertilizer model, leading to high costs.
4. Need for competitive fruit industry and adherence to national carbon goals.
5. Ineffective tools for rural development and lack of organic fertilizer promotion.
Activities:
Activity 1: Establishment and Demonstration of Low-Carbon Circular Economy Pilot Base
Activity 2: Building Organic Fertilizer Application Capacity and Promoting Technical Dissemination
Activity 3: Experience Sharing, Advocacy, and Policy Promotion for Sustainable Organic Fertilizer Development
Anticipated Outcomes:
1. Increased participation of Xinzhuangzi Village residents in organic fertilizer application, establishment of a sustainable agricultural waste management mechanism.
2. Creation of a 20-acre organic fertilizer application demonstration base for peach and apple trees.
3. Summary, sharing of action experiences, and policy advocacy to encourage green rural development.
