Project Characteristics and Results
Policy Impact
? All livelihood activities will be accompanied with skills and knowledge training. For example, fish farming project will be accompanied with basic training on ponds design, feeding management, record keeping, and marketing strategies for the product as well as disease and predator management techniques. This will enable the continuity of the project, and improve community interest to continue with projects that they have a broader knowledge about.
? Use locally available resources for continuity, sustainability and availability to the marginalized for example, fish multiplication will be enhanced by availability of water recharged during Swale and loose gabions construction, hence the availability of inputs will make the project?s livelihood component to be continuous.
? Easy accessibility and supervision spaced for example fish farming don?t require intense monitoring and they require a small space/area but yields obtained will be having an economic value of greater importance hence communities can-do other chores whilst in production fish.
? Training & Public Awareness on land rehabilitation & livelihoods is essential for influencing the society to jointly participate as a way to reduce barriers to participation. Availability of information on land management & Livelihoods influences decision making & possible actions to be undertaken by the community.
? Availability of institutions, the availability of institutions that enhance participation. Local institutions (local officers, stakeholders, local leadership) play a cardinal role in the assessment of community participation. An assessment will be done at local level to reduce barriers to participation.
