Rain water harvest in Shoueb
Shatah region mainly consists of Rangeland area used by pastoralists from villages located along the main road leading to Qalancia city during their rotational grazing in the area. The only natural water resource is located close to Shatah pass which is more than 5-10 km away from the grazing areas.
Pastoralists propose building 134 rain-water harvest cisterns scattered along rangeland to allow their animals? access to drinking water while grazing in the areas. The total water harvest capacity is 2,412 cubic meters. The project directly benefiting a total of 257 families with 1280 inhabitants (759 males and 521 females). Awareness rising of the importance of Rangelands? management and environment will be promoted among pastoral community in the area.
