Optimal use of agricultural waste
To ensure safe disposal of sugarcane agricultural waste in Naqada Center, Qena Governorate, by turning it into organic fertilizers.
The project will operate on multiple fronts to preserve soil quality and prevent water pollution by reducing the safe disposal of banana waste and other agricultural residues. The project will also provide educational opportunities for 500 families, targeting farmers' wives and daughters, to raise awareness about the gradual elimination of chemical pesticides and the resulting impact on family health and children.
Goal 1:
Build the capacities of 500 sugar cane farmers in Nagada Center, Qena Governorate, in the skills of organic fertilizer production from agricultural residues generated by sugar cane crops, with the aim of safely disposing of 20,000 tons of agricultural residues within the project duration.
Goal 2:
Raise awareness among 2,500 individuals from 500 families of sugar cane farmers in Nagada Center, Qena Governorate, about the dangers of burning agricultural residues, the phenomenon of global warming, and the importance of organic fertilizers for agricultural soil. The objective is to produce 600 tons of organic fertilizers to enrich and enhance soil fertility.
Goal 3:
Establish a network of 10 civil associations in Nagada Center, Qena Governorate, that address the problem of air pollution resulting from burning sugar cane crop residues and soil degradation due to continuous sugar cane farming. This network aims to promote the use of organic fertilizers to replenish soil nutrients lacking due to these agricultural practices and reduce emission levels resulting from agricultural residue burning, all within one year of the project's implementation
