Viva o Peixe, Viva o Pescador: Cuidando da natureza e do povo no assentamento Lagoa do Mato
Viva o Peixe, Viva o Pescador: Cuidando da natureza e do povo no assentamento Lagoa do Mato
The project aims to promote socio-environmental sustainability in the Lagoa do Mato Settlement and income generation through agroecological-based family farming. It will serve farming families settled under agrarian reform. The main actions aim to use the existing reservoirs in the settlement for fish production; the protection of its banks and the caves that fill them to prevent their silting, in addition, it will develop nature preservation actions, especially in the settlement's environmental protection area. Among the environmental preservation actions, strategies will be developed to encourage rural ecotourism. The project will strengthen community organization, through the participation of members in the actions and activities of the association and the community, with emphasis on the inclusion of women and young people in all processes. It will improve the physical structure of the association's headquarters in order to allow better conditions for carrying out community social actions and events. The project envisages training courses and exchanges that promote interaction with other organizations and communities in the Alto Rio Poti landscape, as well as technical support during and after the work plan execution period.
