Strengthening Integrated Terrestrial and Marine Ecosystem Protected Areas in Viru Harbor, South New Georgia
The project will focus aims to achieve a PA in Lot 15 forest area that was renamed as Sobehatunga Conservation Area with a total estimated area of 1072.01 Hectares of forest, which will also include Marine Protected Area covering an area of 136.07 Hectares of coastal and marine ecosystems.
The Primary Objective of proposed Project is to allow Management Effectiveness of Viru?s Low Land and Riverine Forest, Wetlands and associated sub systems to be strengthened, expanded and supported by Viru Community. The project primarily aims to increase the capacity and
motivation of PA management staff [Rangers and the Management Committee] to design, implement, and monitor effective flora and fauna wildlife conservation activities within
Sobehatunga Conservation Area Program and thereby respected by the community at large in Viru Harbor.
The Project Components are; Biological Survey for Greater Knowledge & Understanding of Forest and Marine Wildlife
