Demonstration Project of Zero Waste Commercial Community at Beijing Fengtai Center
Description:
The Fengtai Centre is very representative of the business communities in Dongcheng District. As a comprehensive business community, it is the most common and largest type of business community, and most of the other types of business communities are variations of it. At the same time, the Fengtai Centre has about 25 institutions in the building, including enterprises and public institutions, private enterprises and social organizations, and the institutions cover a wide range of work areas, such as finance, commerce, consulting, education and training, communication, food, health, and elderly care, etc. Some of the institutions will work only in the building, while the remaining institutions will combine office and external services. At present, the office and external service groups in Fengtai Centre can cover all age groups, including the old, middle-aged and young, and the average daily flow of people in the building reaches more than 1,000. As a comprehensive business community, most of the employees of the organizations in Fengtai Centre spend at least one-third of their day here, which meets their various needs for office work in the community. The Fengtai Centre's rich business model also radiates to the residents of the surrounding community, providing them with the convenience of learning, living and entertainment. The Fengtai Centre is located in the Dongxiaoshi community and its surrounding areas, there are about 15 commercial office buildings. These commercial office buildings are similar to Fengtai Centre in terms of the types of people they serve and the distribution of commercial businesses. In addition, the mixed commercial community of the Fengtai Center is the mainstream type in the metropolitan areas with urban skyline management and a vast number of second and third tier cities. Therefore, the zero-waste community practice plan based on Fengtai Centre is representative in terms of the type of business community, its functionality, and the region where it is located and can be used in other business communities of the same type.
Main problems:
1. High waste generation in commercial communities, low participation and accuracy in waste separation, and high pressure on back-end management of community waste.
2. There is a demand for the implementation of zero-waste practices within the commercial community, and some commercial communities have already begun to practice them, but they have not yet formed a systematic, implementable and sustainable zero-waste community building plan.
Solutions:
1. Use the Fengtai Centre as a pilot to create a demonstration site for zero-waste commercial communities.
2. Form a set of zero-waste commercial community building plans and promote zero-waste community building in the same type of communities in the region.
Anticipated outcomes:
1. Join hands with the properties of commercial communities and various stakeholders, and with the help of the waste management ledger, identify the weak links in the publicity and advocacy of waste management, and take targeted countermeasures, including the construction of zero-waste spaces in different business formats, the management and operation of zero-waste funds, and the creation of a trading/exchange platform for unused items, to effectively increase the participation rate, accuracy rate and reduction rate of waste classification, and thereby Reduce the pressure on the back-end management of waste.
2. Summarize the experience, form a zero-waste commercial community building plan, create a tour route linking different types of zero-waste demonstration spaces, and systematically present the practice cases of zero-waste commercial community.
